I absolutely love the music in the church today…I love passionate praise. I love songs of praise that sink deep within drawing out the character of Christ, almost in a tangible way. I always joke that I am going to try out for the worship team and my family is quick to bring me back to reality 🙂 but I DO love to worship!!
Worship brings a closeness of heaven and earth and ushers in the spirit of God directly to the heart of the people. I mentioned I love the music in the church today and I especially love when worship bands or artists give an old hymn a modern touch. I was listening to music just the other day and the hymn, Jesus Paid It All, came on and it stopped me in my tracks…for those of you who have never heard this song, you can listen here, but I’ve also included the lyrics as they are simply breathtaking…
“Jesus Paid It All”
I hear the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray, Find in Me thine all in all.
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.
Lord, now indeed I find Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots and melt the heart of stone.
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.
And when before the throne I stand in Him complete,
Jesus died my soul to save,my lips shall still repeat
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow
O Praise the one who paid my debt And raised this life up from the dead (X5)
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow
The reality of these lyrics blows my mind…to know He gave it All and paid it All so that we may live?? We don’t deserve the grace that He poured out but what an amazing gift to us. Today, no matter what you’re going through or how your day started, take some time to worship Him through song…find some great praise and worship music and crank it UP!! Let your heart be open to how worship music can minister to you, change your mood and encourage you. Be blessed!
Psalm 104:33, “I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”
