Falling Apart OR Into Place…

Isaiah 54:10, “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”

In the middle of my week this verse kept rolling over and over in my head. I had not read it recently nor had I studied it in depth. I grabbed my Bible and opened it up to Isaiah and chapter 54 has the heading “The Future Glory of Zion.” Zion is referred to as Israel, God’s chosen people, and this chapter refers to God’s promise to reconcile Israel and His people…to protect it and to restore it. Hmmm…sounds exactly like what I feel God is doing within me as well. He is drawing me to Him, His protection is evident in ways I can’t even put into words, His promises are planted deep within my heart and He is constantly refining me to become a more clear reflection of who He is.

When difficulties or uncertainty come we are often shaken, but God…Oh, He never is. Everything around us may feel like it is falling apart but essentially everything is just falling into place. It’s falling into the place God designed, not what we designed, with our finite minds that can only see a glimpse of what He sees. We reach for Him in despair, we cry out for Him in doubt, we question our stance when He seems silent and yet He still moves on our behalf. He is a God of peace with a heart of compassion. He sees our hurt, our trials, our unbelief and He reaches…He reaches out to love us, to shield us, to push us, to strengthen us and to redirect us. His plans are good, His timing His own, but the journey we navigate through to experience His covenant of peace, that is where we meet Him.

This verse that kept playing in my head reminded me…the future glory of Zion IS promised just like our own futures are secure IN Him. There is nothing we have to fear except staying the same. The enemy would love nothing more than for us to remain sedentary but that isn’t God’s plan. We are to GO, to move and to bring people with us along the way. Whatever that means for you…do it…step out and trust that God will direct you exactly where He wants you.

You and I are chosen and He has purposed us to play a significant role in this time and place in history. When doubt and fear creep in and it feels like the mountains around you are shaking and everything you hold secure is just out of your reach, God is still there! His unfailing love for you will NOT be shaken and His convenant of peace will NOT be removed. He is compassionate towards your feelings and He knows every aspect of what you’re going through. Most importantly, He knows what’s on the other side, He sees what you cannot and He is gently pushing you to deepen your faith and your trust in Him.
